Looking back...

you ask me if i loved the man
unworthey as you say he was
it seems to me i did my friend
without much reason or a good because
and oh my friend how much pain
he inflicted on my heart
without ever looking back
what a devil was that man
what an evil sort of sprite!!!
but was he really all those things?
was he quite as vile as that?
then why is it that i loved him?
